Discourse on 0% Tax on New Cars, Observer: Hard Blow for Used Car Sellers

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - The automotive world is feeling the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, this is proven by the fact that sales of new and used vehicles continue to decline.

Plus, currently there is talk that the government will apply zero percent tax to the purchase of new cars.

Even though the government has not yet decided, it has already had an impact on used car sellers.

What is meant by tax exemption is Sales Tax on Luxury Goods (PPNBM) which is also regulated by the Ministry of Finance and Motor Vehicle Transfer Fee (BBNKB) from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

However, the Ministry of Industry asked for relaxation to zero percent.

Apart from Value Added Tax and Motor Vehicle Tax (PPNBM) and BBN, it also affects the price of new cars.

Without both, the selling price of new cars is estimated to fall by 20-40 percent.

Relaxing zero percent tax for new car purchases is still being discussed, but it has worried some used car sellers.

How big is the impact on the automotive sector in the country?
