Taufan explained that the earthquake that occurred was a type of shallow earthquake caused by local fault activity.

Separately, Kapusdatinkom of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Agus Wibowo said that the earthquake shocks were felt as far away as Jakarta.
It was stated that shaking occurred for 20 seconds at Graha BNPB on the 15th floor and all participants in the Covid-19 Pandemic Handling coordination meeting were advised to remain calm by the Head of BNPB.
