Regarding the demonstration against the Omnibus Law, Gatot Nurmantyo visited the National Police Headquarters asking for our members to be released
Gatot's arrival to ask for the release of our arrested activists.
An argument between the KAMI group and the police officers occurred when Gatot Nurmantyo wanted to go in to meet with the National Police Chief.
However, the group was not allowed to enter, apart from the fact that there were too many, officers said the National Police Chief was not there.
The group tried to lobby to be able to go to the 15th floor to meet their colleagues who were being detained.
Gatot Nurmantyo and his entourage finally had time to wait in the lobby, Bareksrim, to wait for permission to meet the National Police Chief and visit the KAMI members who were detained by the police.
A number of our high-ranking officials have been arrested, including Syahganda Nainggolan and Jumhur Hidayat, in connection with alleged hate speech on social media regarding demonstrations against the Job Creation Law.
The arrests were made in two different places, Jakarta and Medan.
Efforts by Gatot Nurmantyo and top US officials to meet with the National Police Chief, General Idham AzIs, did not produce results.
The National Police Chief today (15/10/2020) could not be found because he was not there, and his desire to visit KAMI members had not yet received permission.
