Blood Plasma Therapy is Being Tested at Gatot Subroto Army Hospital

Hope continues to increase amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

Apart from increasing the recovery rate, the plasma from each recovered patient is considered to contain antibodies, which can be used to cure other patients.

The recovery of Covid-19 patients in Indonesia continues to increase.

Even though it has spread throughout the country, the Government confirmed that the number of recoveries as of Wednesday, April 22 2020, was almost a thousand people.

The total number of positive Covid-19 cases today reached 7,418, 635 patients died and 913 people recovered.

Spokesperson for handling Covid-19, Achmad Yurianto, said that the recovery of Covid-19 patients was highest in DKI Jakarta, followed by 3 other red zone provinces.

Blood plasma therapy for patients recovering from Covid-19 also raises hopes even higher.

Scientists and health workers, including at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, are currently researching this treatment method.

Deputy Head of RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Brigadier General Budi Sulistya, said that his party, in collaboration with the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology, had ethical permission for this research.

Blood plasma from patients who have recovered from Covid-19 is believed to contain antibodies that can be used to treat other patients.

The Director of the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology, Amin Soebandrio, at Sapa Indonesia Night, Sunday 19 April, revealed the clinical trial of this blood plasma therapy.

Currently, recommendations to other hospitals in the country are still waiting for the results of blood plasma transfusion research at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital.

Blood plasma antibody therapy for patients who have recovered from Covid-19 has also been developed by other countries, such as the United States, Iran, Japan and England.
