Medical Personnel Strike, 109 Medical Personnel Dismissed

KOMPAS.TV - Dozens of paramedics at the Ogan Ilir Regional General Hospital, South Sumatra, visited the Ogan Ilir DPRD, Monday (18.5.2020) yesterday.

The lack of safety guarantees for them, when treating Covid-19 patients, and the issue of fatigue money which was considered unclear, became the basis for their strike action.

Dozens of health workers, including nurses, midwives and ambulance drivers, came to the Ogan Ilir DPRD last Monday (18.5.2020), to complain about their problems.

These health workers said their safety protection was very minimal.

Representatives of health workers were received by Commission IV, DPRD Ogan Ilir, and the meeting was held behind closed doors.

These health workers demand transparency in incentives.

They also asked to be provided with PPE that meets the standards, and asked for a halfway house, before returning home, after duty.

The management of the Ogan Ilir Regional General Hospital, South Sumatra, has asked health workers who are on strike to sign a letter of commitment to be willing to treat Covid-19 patients.

Ogan Ilir Regional Hospital also assured that the PPE they have is complete and according to standards, including a halfway house that has been prepared.

The government is starting to be overwhelmed in dealing with the spread of Corona, making President Joko Widodo ask for community health centers throughout Indonesia to be strengthened.

In a limited meeting on handling Covid-19, the President even hoped that community health centers could be used for testing blood samples.
