Global Emergency Status Issued by WHO Regarding Corona Virus

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - One month after the Corona virus was detected in Wuhan, China. The world health organization, WHO, declared a global emergency status regarding the spread of the Corona virus.

WHO said that this state of emergency was declared because the virus had spread to 18 countries, reaching 98 cases, including transmission between people, in the United States, Vietnam, Japan and Germany.

In Indonesia itself, there have been no confirmed patients infected with the Corona virus, several cases are still being tested further. Director General of Disease Prevention and Control, Ministry of Health, Anung Sugihantono asked the public not to panic, with the global emergency status issued by WHO.

Apart from efforts to evacuate Indonesian citizens from China, the Government is also coordinating with various institutions to monitor health within the country, including Chinese citizens who are currently in their homeland. Local governments are also preparing.

The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, has prepared isolation rooms in three hospitals in East Java.

Previously, Khofifah also met with the parents of Unesa students who were studying in Wuhan, China, regarding efforts to evacuate students from East Java simultaneously.

The status of a global emergency is like a double exclamation mark which ideally should be taken seriously by governments around the world. Coordination between countries is important, considering the busy activities of world citizens across various countries.

WHO asked all countries to be alert and not visit Wuhan for the time being, so that the spread of the Corona virus does not spread.
Especially considering that, in China, the Corona virus has caused more than 200 people to die.
