Robot Helps Medical Team Treat Covid-19 Patients

SURABAYA, KOMPAS.TV - The Sepuluh November Institute of Technology Surabaya handed over a robot named Raisa to Airlangga University Hospital Surabaya on Tuesday (14/04). The name Raisa is an abbreviation of Robot Medical Assistant ITS Unair.

This robot was specifically created to serve Covid-19 patients, who are undergoing treatment at Airlangga University Hospital, Surabaya.

The Chancellor of ITS Surabaya, Mochammad Ashari, said that the robot has a number of capabilities, namely being able to move a distance of 10 meters, having a monitor screen that is connected to the operator.

The monitor screen also functions to directly detect the body temperature of corona patients. The robot also has 4 shelves which function to carry items the patient needs.

Director of Airlangga University Hospital Surabaya, Nasronuddin welcomed the handover of the Raisa robot. It is hoped that the technological sophistication in it will reduce the duties of medical personnel in treating corona patients.

Although it cannot completely replace the duties of medical personnel, it is hoped that this tool will be able to reduce interactions between Covid-19 patients and medical personnel.

The robot was then immediately operated at Airlangga University Hospital, Surabaya.
