Thousands of Residents Crowd to Queue for Covid-19 Vaccination
The queue for the vaccine starts at around 7 am or about an hour before the vaccination which starts at 8 am. As the day wore on, the queues got longer until they were crowded in front of the Regent's official residence complex. Thousands of residents who had queued for hours were jostling to get to the entrance. As the afternoon progressed, the residents queuing felt impatient and tried to break through the gate that limits the vaccine location in the pavilion area of the Purworejo Regent's official residence.
Not only in the outer courtyard, hundreds of residents were also willing to stand in the heat queuing in the courtyard in the pavilion complex of the Regent's official residence. The vaccination committee had actually provided tents, but the capacity did not match the number of residents who came, as a result some residents were stuck in the yard and queued waiting for their turn under the hot sun.
The queue of thousands of residents was admitted by the Head of the Purworejo Health Service, Dr. Sudarmi, beyond the vaccination committee's predictions. On Monday, the enthusiasm of residents to take part in the first dose of vaccination at this place was lacking, so the district government intensively carried out outreach, including on social media, and conveyed it to the villages. However, the results were beyond predictions. On the second day, thousands of residents from various areas in Purworejo Regency came to the vaccination center at the pavilion complex. Sudarmi admitted that he would carry out evaluations and improvements so that vaccinations the following day would be more organized.
