Revitalization of Monas, Basuki said that only Anies Baswedan's era was not permission

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said, the revitalization of Monas had been carried out by four governors. However, only in the Anies Baswedan Revitalization era was carried out without permission from the Medan Merdeka Regional Development Commission.

"Since Pak Sutiyoso, Mr. Foke (Fauzi Bowo), Mr. Jokowi has been carried out. These are the fourth time that will be revitalized by Mr. Anies and there must be procedures (the Steering Commission permit)," said Basuki after a meeting at the State Secretariat, Jakarta, Monday (1/27/2020).

The existence of the Steering Commission is contained in the Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 25 of 1995 concerning the Development of the Medan Merdeka Region in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta.

The Steering Commission consists of a combination of seven agencies, namely the Minister of State Secretary Pratikno as chairman, the Governor of DKI Jakarta as Secretary, as well as consisting of the Minister of Public Works, the Minister of Environment, the Minister of Transportation, the Minister of Transportation and Culture, and the Minister of Tourism.

The regulation stipulates that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government must request and get approval from the Steering Commission if they want to carry out development in the Medan Merdeka area.

"Means, three previous governors have also followed the procedure. Supposedly (Governor Anies) followed the existing procedures," said Basuki.
