The King of the Dutch returned the Diponegoro keris to Jokowi
The Dutch king Willem Alexander handed over a symbolic of the keris during his meeting and President Jokowi at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Tuesday (10/3/2020).
Reporting from Kompas.com the keris is known to be stored in the Volkenkunde Museum, Leiden, the Netherlands.
Because, the existence of the keris had become a puzzle after the Koninklijk Cabinet Van Zeldzaamheden (KKZ) broke up.
KKZ is a special collection of Dutch royal cabinet collections.
Before being returned to Indonesia, various research processes were carried out by Dutch and Indonesian researchers.
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said the Indonesian side of the Director General of Culture had checked directly into the Netherlands. This is to ensure that the keris in question is indeed belonging to Indonesia.
The keris itself was obtained by the Dutch when he arrested Prince Diponegoro after the major war 1825-1830.
