Police Arrest Youth Who Claims to Be Family of General When Netted in Emergency PPKM Raid
After the video went viral on social media, the South Tangerang Police Criminal Investigation Unit immediately moved quickly to arrest the teenager.
After being arrested, the young man clarified that the statement was not true.
"The person concerned admitted that he had a brother, General, but after clarification, this statement turned out to be untrue," said AKBP Iman Imanuddin, South Tangerang Police Chief.
Iman explained that even though it is true that the suspect has a general's brother, the officers will not discriminate and will still prioritize public safety so that the law must be enforced.
"Even though the person concerned yesterday when enforcing said he had a brother general, public safety is still the main thing so the law is indiscriminate and must be enforced," said Iman
Because of his actions, the suspect who claims to be the nephew of the Two Star Police General is languishing at the South Tangerang Police and is threatened with a sentence of one year in prison.
The incident started when joint officers were going around carrying out Emergency PPKM raids. When they arrived in the Ciputat area, the officers found the teenager not wearing a mask and riding a motorbike without motorized equipment.
The officers immediately stopped the teenager and carried out an examination, that's when the teenager didn't accept it and immediately challenged the officers and even claimed to be the nephew of a two-star police general in order to escape the raid.
