Nadiem Makarim Program Polemic: Muhammadiyah, Nu, Until Pgri Resigns

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - The Ministry of Education and Culture initiated a driving organization program.

This program is said to be part of the vision and mission entitled "Freedom to Learn" initiated by the Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makariem.

Nadiem also provides funds amounting to IDR 595 billion per year to be distributed to community organizations that qualify to become facilitators of this program.

The funds disbursed are divided into three categories, namely elephants with a grant of IDR 20 billion per year, tigers receiving funds of IDR 5 billion per year, and deer receiving a grant of IDR 1 billion per year.

The Ministry of Education and Culture's driving operations program was then responded to by a number of groups, from education-based organizations to politicians.

Like the Republic of Indonesia Teachers Association (PGRI) which stated that it was withdrawing from this program.

Chairman of the 21st PB PGRI, Didi Suprijadi, said that the Minister of Education and Culture should prioritize education-based community organizations for drive operation programs.

Didi believes that what the Ministry of Education and Culture needs are teachers who can only be obtained from mass organizations and the educational profession.

"Because after all, the Ministry of Education and Culture does not have teachers. Teachers are in the regional government and provincial government. Who wants to drive education in Indonesia if not teachers? Those who have teachers are mass organizations," he said.

Previously, the Muhammadiyah central leadership's primary and secondary education council and the Ma'arif Nahdlatul Ulama educational institution which were included in the elephant category had also withdrawn from the driving organization program.

These two institutions withdrew because the criteria for selecting and determining participants were considered unclear.

And there is no transparency in the selection process so that a number of mass organizations and private company CSR programs that do not have credibility in the education sector pass the selection.
