Corona Virus D614g Mutation, Infects Human Cells More Quickly

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - The Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology discovered a mutation in the virus that causes Covid-19, Sars-Cov2.

The public is advised not to panic and continue to comply with health protocols.

The virus that causes Covid-19, Sars-Cov2, in Indonesia is known to have mutated into a new type of strain D614G, at least since around April 2020.

From research in the laboratory, this new strain of Corona virus infects human cells more quickly.

However, it has not been proven to cause rapid human-to-human transmission.

Virus mutations are also not related to the severity of the sufferer's illness.

The head of the Biological Institute, Eijkman, asked the public not to panic about the discovery of the Corona virus mutation in Indonesia, and asked residents to continue implementing health protocols.
