Getting to know Rumini, a Semeru victim who died hugging her mother and husband: she was a romantic figure

LUMAJANG, KOMPAS.TV - Rumini's story this week has become a hot topic of conversation in Indonesia.

Rumini's figure seems to be a symbol of the high love and devotion of a child towards its mother.

Previously, Salamah (70) and her child, Rumini (28), were found dead embracing each other after the eruption of Mount Semeru swept through their residence in Curah Kobokan Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang, East Java.

Rumini, a simple woman who has immense love for her mother, a figure who makes heaven feel at home at her feet.

Rumini didn't run away, she still hugged her mother who couldn't walk because she was old.

The Kompas TV team tried to get to know more about the late Rumini, through stories from her husband, Imam Safi'i.

The husband remembers Rumini as a hard worker.

He is known to have migrated to the island of Bali to work for almost 10 years.

The results of his hard work have paid off, the houses in Curah Kobokan Village are now being swept away by volcanic ash due to the Mount Semeru disaster.

Imam Safi'i also recalled his love story with his wife, he said Rumini was a romantic woman.

It is not surprising that Rumini was willing to hug her mother to protect her from the volcanic ash from Mount Semeru, even if it ended in death.
