Gibran's steps towards the Solo regional elections are hampered by PDI-P's internal requirements
Even though he had registered, it turned out that Gibran did not ask for a certificate from the DPC PDI-P Solo regarding proof of membership or identification of party cadres. So far the PDI-P Solo DPC has only issued a cadre certificate for former member of the Solo Purwono DPRD who is also running for regional elections. The cadre certificate is important because PDI-P requires that residents who participate in regional elections through their party have been a bull cadre for at least 3 years. Meanwhile, Gibran only got the PDI-P KTA last September. Chairman of the DPC PDI Perjuangan Solo City, FX Hadi Rudyatmo, confirmed that there is a three-year requirement to be a party member to nominate himself as regional head.
Even though he has registered through PDI-P, it seems that Gibran is still attractive to other parties. A number of political parties continue to monitor the chances of President Joko Widodo's eldest son. PKS, which won the second most seats in the Solo DPRD, is monitoring and studying the possibility of forming a coalition with Gibran's party. Meanwhile, the Gerindra Party is still sticking with its plan to pair Gibran with Paundra Karna. However, Gerindra is realistic with only 3 seats.
Judging from the composition of the Solo City DPRD, only PDI-P can nominate candidates without needing to form a coalition. For the 2019-2024 period, PDI-P won 30 seats. Followed by PKS with 6 seats while PAN, Golkar and Gerindra only have 3 seats each and the remaining 1 seat belongs to the Indonesian Solidarity Party.
