Kpai Restitution Value of IDR 331 Million is Too Small for 13 Santriwati Victims!
As a sign of the verdict or life sentence, Herry Wirawan, the perpetrator of sexual crimes against 13 female students in Bandung, West Java, Tuesday (15/02) afternoon.
The Panel of Judges at the Bandung District Court was of the opinion that the defendant's actions were a serious crime and there were no elements that would mitigate the sentence.
However, the sentence handed down by the judge was lighter than the prosecutor's request, which demanded that the defendant be sentenced to death and chemical castration.
Life imprisonment refers to the Criminal Code, Article 12 Paragraph 1 which states that imprisonment is for life or for a certain period of time.
Responding to the decision, the defendant's attorney said that many of the prosecutor's demands were not fulfilled by the panel of judges.
Meanwhile, regarding whether or not to appeal the sentence, the attorney said he was still waiting for a decision from the defendant Herry Wirawan.
The Public Prosecutor from the West Java Prosecutor's Office admitted that he had thought about the sentence handed down by the judge to the accused who raped 13 female students in Bandung.

However, the prosecutor appreciated it because the judge's decision was in accordance with the primary indictment presented by the prosecutor.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission, KPAI, highlighted the verdict of Herry Wirawan, a defendant in sexual crimes against female students.
KPAI stated that punishment must be accompanied by confiscation of the perpetrator's assets.
This needs to be done so that dozens of victims receive life insurance.
The reason is, Herry not only raped 13 of his female students until they became pregnant and gave birth.
But it also uses these children to gain sympathy and raise aid funds.
The crimes were committed in the period 2016 to 2021.
