Khilafatul Muslimin Uses Non-violent Strategy, Observer: People Are Deceived & Want to Join
Abdul Qadir Baraja was arrested at his residence which is also in the same location as the Khilafatul Muslimin head office in Teluk Betung, Sukaraja, Bandar Lampung.
Previously, the police also named three suspects in the Khilafatul Muslimin convoy case, in Brebes, Central Java.
The three were named suspects because they were suspected of spreading false news or hoaxes, or attempting treason through the caliphate campaign.
The suspects who have been named by the police are a branch leader of the Brebes Khilafatul Muslimin congregation, and two branch leaders in Sikumbang and Keboledan.
They are now being detained at the Brebes Police, and face up to 15 years in prison.
In connection with this case, the Brebes Police, Central Java confiscated a number of attributes and books used by the suspects during the convoy.
Based on the results of the investigation, this activity was carried out by the suspects in Brebes and has been going on since 2014.
The police are currently still investigating radical ideology and financial flows for this group.
Previously, a convoy of dozens of motorbikes carrying attributes and flags bearing the words Khilafatul Muslimin took place in Brebes, Central Java.
In video footage spread on social media, during the convoy this group also distributed leaflets about the caliphate to the public.
Apart from Brebes, the Khilafatul Muslimin convoy also took place in Bandung and East Jakarta.
