Vital areas in Jakarta like Monas are often flooded, why?
DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Secretary Syaifullah directly checked the flood conditions that occurred at Monas. According to him, the flood that occurred at Monas was a queue of water that would enter the ground.
"I think this is just a matter of queuing water," said Syaifulla.
He acknowledged that the mouth of the water channel had not been tested, resulting in a queue of rainwater entry into the sewers. The poor drainage system makes the water unable to flow normally until finally it returns to the road.
"Earlier there were some mouths of water that we asked for immediately widened, time to make this less calculated," added Syaifullah.
He also said that his party would conduct an evaluation and would widen the mouth of the water four times the existing.
Heavy rain which flushed from night until morning made the Medan Merdeka Jalan West and south road sections submerged in water. This puddle is not the first time it has happened.
