Foreign Ships Desperate to Enter Natuna Sea, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Protests to China

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release quoted from the kemenlu.go.id page stated that they had summoned the Chinese ambassador in Jakarta and expressed a strong protest over the incident in the Natuna Sea. A diplomatic note of protest has also been submitted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that Indonesia does not have overlapping jurisdiction with China. Indonesia does not recognize China's nine dash line, because drawing the line is contrary to the UN convention on the law of the sea and was decided in 2016.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Chinese Ambassador had noted Indonesia's protest and immediately reported it to Beijing.
