Jakarta Flooded, Jokowi Asks Anies to Clean Got and Dredge Reservoirs
"It really depends on the floods in Jakarta, cleaning of the sewers. Then also the widening of the Ciliwung River which reaches Jakarta has narrowed," said Jokowi at a conference discussing the construction of a new capital city in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Wednesday (18/12/2019).
The former Governor of DKI Jakarta also reminded Anies Baswedan about the management of flood gates in the capital city. Apart from that, it is also related to the importance of dredging reservoirs.
"Sluice gate management includes dredging reservoirs in Jakarta, such as the Pluit Reservoir and others," said Jokowi.
The central government, continued Jokowi, has also been trying to help overcome flooding problems. One of them is accelerating the construction of dams in the Sukamahi and Ciawi areas, West Java. However, Jokowi did not deny that the two dams were not a definite guarantee that the capital city area would be free from flooding.
