The earthquake in Sukabumi was centered 23 KM northeast of Pelabuhan Ratu City

SUKABUMI, KOMPAS.TV - An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 rocked the Sukabumi area, West Java, this afternoon.

The following is a visual that we got, from the National Disaster Management Agency, shortly after the earthquake occurred.

According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, BMKG, the epicenter of the earthquake was on land at a distance of 23 kilometers, northeast of Pelabuhan Ratu City, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The earthquake shocks were felt in the Cikidang, Ciambar, Cidahu, Kalapa Nunggal, Panggarangan, Bayah and Citeko areas.

The Regional Disaster Management Agency, BPBD Sukabumi Regency reported that the earthquake in Sukabumi caused one house unit to be damaged in Kalapa Nunggal District, 2 house units were damaged in Parakan Salak District, 1 house unit was damaged in Kabandungan District, and 1 house unit was damaged in Cidahu District.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties.

The BPBD team, together with other joint officers, are still assessing the damage and possible victims.

BMKG monitoring results showed that there was one foreshock activity, with a magnitude of 3.2, about nine minutes before the aftershock, or at around 17.09 WIB.

Modeling results show that this earthquake does not have the potential for a tsunami.
