The corona test kit currently being developed is based on rapid tests and PCR. The target is that by the end of May, all test kits can be produced by themselves.
Minister of Research and Technology Bambang Brodjonegoro said that Indonesia's test kit equipment has advantages.
The development of test kits in Indonesia already uses the Indonesian virus, or local transmission virus, said Bambang.
Apart from the corona test kit, the government is also developing its own ventilator manufacture. This ventilator is used as a breathing aid for corona patients.
The Minister of Research and Technology said that four ventilator prototypes had been developed.
"The four ventilator prototypes which are currently going through the BPFK testing process and are currently undergoing clinical trials are prototypes from ITB, UI, BPPT, and from the private sector PT Dharma," said Bambang.
Covid-19 drugs and antivirals are the most sought after things at the moment. The reason is, an antiviral to treat corona patients has not yet been found.
