[Full] Testimony of Turi 1 Middle School Students Drifting and Save Friends When Sempor River Cutting

SLEMAN, KOMPAS.TV - Tita Farza Pradita, one of the students of SMPN 1 Turi Sleman, was washed away during the Sempor Sememan River Clash on February 22, 2020.

After being treated at the Turi Health Center, Tita's condition improved. Tita recounted the incident when the flood hit the Sempor River. He also helped three of his friends.

Tita said when the incident had tried to help 3 of her colleagues even though he was finally released due to the swift flow of the river. Tita survived after being helped by residents around the river.

Friday afternoon (21/2) towards the afternoon, the Kali Sempor area, Sleman, Yogyakarta was packed with residents. They came to the location after hearing the news about hundreds of students of SMP Negeri 1 Turi was washed away by the river.

The arrival of residents was followed by the SAR team who came to evacuate the victims.

Ten students were declared missing and hundreds of others were saved from a total of 249 river feeders.

The incident at the Sempor River was responded to by the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta who immediately went to the victim's family.

Not only condolved, the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta also asked the local BPBD to issue a circular about the prohibition of activities in the river during the rainy season.
