The Democratic Faction "walks out" from the Plenary Session to Ratify the Job Creation Bill

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - The DPR RI plenary session ratified the Job Creation Bill into Law.

Of the nine factions in the DPR, two factions, namely the Democrat faction and the PKS faction, rejected the bill.

This plenary session was marked by a heated debate between Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Azis Syamsuddin, and member of the Democratic Party faction, Benny K. Harman, who asked that his faction be given the opportunity to express their rejection of the Job Creation Bill.

This heated debate resulted in the decision of the Democratic Party faction to choose to walk out of the discussion on ratifying the Job Creation Bill.

Meanwhile, in his explanation, Chairman of the DPR Legislative Body, Supratman Andi Agtas, said that this bill regulates a job loss insurance program.

Meanwhile, the issue of termination of employment remains in accordance with the Employment Law.

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md asked the public not to be pessimistic about this law.

According to Mahfud, it is normal for every law that is passed to have rejection from the public and there is a path to resolving rejection of a law, namely a judicial review at the Constitutional Court.

A number of labor groups voiced opposition to this bill, one of which was the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI).

KSPI Secretary General Riden Hatam Aziz admitted that he was surprised about this ratification because this bill had received rejection from various parties.

The government must ensure that the Job Creation Law is truly in the interests of workers and aims to get the Indonesian economy moving again.
