Fix, ISIS Sympathizers from Indonesia Will Not Be Returned

JAKARTA, KOMPASTV - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD stated that the government would not repatriate former ISIS sympathizers from Indonesia who are currently still in Syria.

According to Mahfud, the government issued this decision to ensure the public's sense of security from the threat of terrorism.

Apart from ensuring public safety from the threat of terrorism, this decision was taken by the government to anticipate the emergence of new viruses related to terrorism in Indonesia.

Although it is certain that the repatriation of former ISIS sympathizers from Indonesia will not be carried out, the Government will consider repatriating parentless children under the age of ten who are currently still in Syria and several other countries.

Identity identification will also be carried out by the Indonesian Government to ensure the number of Indonesian citizens who joined ISIS in Syria.

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md revealed that currently 689 Indonesian citizens have been involved in cross-border terrorism or TFT.

This was conveyed by Mahfud after attending a limited meeting today at the Bogor Palace, West Java.
