Fahri: Will Jokowi give up? | 100 Days of Jokowi-style Dismantling Politics - ONE TABLE OF THE FORUM (Part 2)

Fahri Hamzah believes that the era of democracy in Jokowi's government has made many people give up. A number of legal cases and restrictions on freedom of expression are the reasons.

Joko Widodo Maruf Amin's government has been running for one hundred days since the couple was inaugurated on October 20 2019. In contrast to his first term, Jokowi did not set a target of one hundred days in his second term. However, Jokowi's political steps were full of surprises throughout the first three months.

It started by embracing the presidential election rival, Prabowo Subianto, and the opposition motorbike, the Gerindra Party, into the government. This seems to dismantle (deconstruct) political fatsun. The sacredness of a number of positions in the cabinet and palace circle was also dismantled. Jokowi appointed Gojek CEO Nadiem Makarim (35 years) as Minister of Education and Culture.

Special staff positions, which are usually filled by senior figures, are handed over to millennials. In the legal field, Jokowi dismantled the independence of the Corruption Eradication Commission by including a supervisory board. Decentralization of regulations was dismantled through the omnibus law. Meanwhile, the plan to relocate the capital city took place immediately, as if to reveal the complexity of moving the national capital. So, what does Jokowi want with various deconstruction policies at the start of his second term?
