DKI Jakarta DPRD asks that Monas revitalization be stopped
The chairman of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ida Mahmudah, announced the termination of the revitalization of Monas in a meeting with the DKI Jakarta land and spatial planning works creation agency, Wednesday (22/1).
"Basically, all activities at Monas are temporarily suspended until there is approval from the Minister of State regarding the Presidential Decree," said Ida Mahmudah, as reported on the Kompas.com page.
According to Ida, the central government's permission is stated in Presidential Decree Number 25 of 1995 concerning the development of the Medan Merdeka area in the DKI Jakarta area.
The request to stop the Monas revitalization project was confirmed by the Monas management.
Regarding permits, the Main Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat, Setya Utama, responded. According to him, the Monas revitalization project has not received permission from the steering commission for the development of the Medan Merdeka area.
"I can say that the construction, the revitalization, has not received a permit and indeed there has never been an application for a permit," said Setya Utama to Kompas.com
Responding to this polemic, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government claimed that the revitalization work on the south side of Monas was in accordance with Presidential Decree Number 25 of 1995 concerning the development of the Medan Merdeka area in the DKI Jakarta area.
