'Demo Anarchist' and 'Brutality of the Police' in the action of rejecting Omnibus Law - BBC News Indonesia

The government accused the demonstration of rejecting the work creation law in various cities on Tuesday-Thursday (06-18/10) and then 'ridden' and full of 'anarchist' actions. As a result, thousands of people were arrested, although most of it has now been released.

But in the field, the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) revealed the existence of violence committed by the police to the demonstrators.

"If it has been arrested, why should it be beaten," said Asfinawati, Director of YLBHI. "Being an oration, did nothing, suddenly sprayed with tear gas," he added.

Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo said the demonstration took place because it was "motivated by disinformation on the substance of the law [Cipta Work] and hoaks on social media".

Correction: The Work Cipta Law was passed by the DPR on October 5, 2020 in the afternoon.
