Do Iran - US Tensions Have an Impact on Indonesia?

Tensions between Iran and the United States are increasingly escalating. The United States claims to have killed the commander of Iran's elite forces in an attack. Iran was determined to take revenge. On the other hand, the Indonesian government asked each party to exercise restraint.

The head of Iran's elite forces, General Qassim Soleimani, was killed in an air strike carried out by the United States. The attack, which also killed the deputy commander of an Iran-backed Iraqi militia, occurred at Baghdad International Airport, when an airstrike targeted the general's car convoy.

The White House and Pentagon have confirmed that the United States military was responsible for Soleimani's death.

In his tweet, the official White House account wrote that Soleimani was actively planning attacks on United States diplomats in Iraq and the Middle East.

The United States Department of Defense, in its statement, accused Soleimani of approving the attack on the United States embassy in Baghdad on January 1.

Yesterday, a number of rocket attacks began hitting the green zone in the al-jadiriya district, Baghdad, Iraq, where the United States Embassy and the Balad base are located, after Iran declared revenge for the death of General Qassem Soleimani.

After the rocket attack, the United States government again sent troops from the Army's airborne division to Kuwait. The Army deployment, which was flown from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, was part of a deployment of 650 personnel who had been sent previously.

The recent exchange of attacks between Iran and the United States was initially triggered by an attack on a United States military base in Kirkuk, Iraq, which killed a contractor and injured four United States soldiers. The United States blamed the attack on militias backed by Iran.
